Data Import

The Import area enables you to copy data and system settings between Xactly Incent, Xactly Modeling, and Xactly Sandbox. You might want to do this after making changes to one environment that you want reflected in another environment.

note: Export and import are only supported for the same version of Incent.

Displayed Columns

The following table describes the columns displayed when importing data:

This section describes how to import your data.

Import Data

  1. Click the Data tab, then click Import in the secondary menu. The Import screen appears.
    You can browse for specific files in the various data categories, or you can choose to import a compressed file.
  2. To browse for files among the data categories, do the following:
    1. Click the Browse button corresponding to the data categories that you want to import. A dialog appears enabling you to select the XML file containing the data to import.
    2. Navigate to the file and click the Open button.
    3. Click the Import button. A confirmation dialog appears.
    4. (Optional) Deselect the checkbox if you do not want the application to notify you by email when the import process has completed.
    5. Click the OK button. The selected data is imported into the module. The application sends an email notification when the process has completed if you selected the option. In addition, you can monitor the status of the import by using the Status area.
  3. To import a compressed file, do the following:
    1. Click the Select Compressed File button.Select Compressed File Dialog
    2. Browse to the file you want to import.
    3. (Optional) Select an effective start date for the hierarchy.
    4. (Optional) Select an effective start date for named relationships.
    5. Click the Import button.

Import a Large Number of Records

You can select zipped files that contain a large number of records. For example, when you select People or Customer objects using the Browse button, the file browser displays the zipped files in that folder.

note: If you try to import a zipped file that contains XML files with mixed Process IDs, a warning message appears telling you so, and asking you to click OK to continue. If a zipped file fails to import, an error log window appears displaying the failed process, process ID, file name, row, object, and error message.
