Credit Assignment > Territory Management > Territories
You can use the Territories area to manage territories, including adding new territories,
editing existing territories, and deleting territories, as required.

The following table describes the information you can specify when managing territories:

This section describes how to manage territories.
Display All Territories
• Click the Territory Management tab, then click Territories in the secondary menu.
The Territories screen appears.
Find Specific Territories
1. Click the Territory Management tab, then click Territories in the secondary menu.
The Territories screen appears.
2. Type part of the territory name in the Find Territories field.
note: The Find Territories field does not recognize regular expressions using characters
such as * or ?.
3. Click the button.
The search results appear in the results area.
4. (Optional) Narrow the search results by choosing an option in the Visibility list.
The possible options are:
• All
• Show Available Only
• Show Hidden Only
5. Click the Clear Search button to clear the search terms, as required.
Add a Territory
1. Click the button to display the New Territory dialog.

2. Type the name of the territory in the Name* field.
3. Select the Hide checkbox to hide the territory.
4. (Optional) Click the button next to the Start Date field, and choose a date from
the pop-up calendar.
5. (Optional) Click the button next to the End Date field, and choose a date from
the pop-up calendar.
note: The active start and end dates for a territory must cover the entire period, as
defined in Xactly Incent.
6. (Optional) Type a description of the territory in the Description field.
7. Click the button. The Territory Rules, People Assignments, and Custom
Attributes tabs appear.
8. Specify the territory rules.
To add a condition or condition group to the territory, select the item after which
you want to add the condition or condition group and click the
button or button respectively.
To modify a condition or condition group, double-click the item and update the
settings, as appropriate.
To rearrange conditions or condition groups, including moving a condition into a
condition group, drag and drop the items to the new location.
To remove a condition or condition group, the select the item and click the
button.
To include a dimension rule, click the button, select the
dimension rule, and click the button.
9. Click the People Assignments tab, and click the button
to add a new assignment. The New Territory Person Assignment dialog appears.
a. Click the button next to the Person field, select the person associated
with the territory, and click the button.
b. (Optional) Click the button next to the Start Date field, and choose a date
from the pop-up calendar.
c. (Optional) Click the button next to the End Date field, and choose a date
from the pop-up calendar.
d. Type a split percentage value in the Split %* field. This is the split percentage for
the territory. You can specify the value as a decimal, for example, 66.75.
e. Click the button.
f. Click the button to close the Attribute Details dialog.
10. (Optional) Click the Custom Fields tab and specify the settings, as required.
11. Click the button to update the territory.
12. Click the button to preview order for the territory.
a. Select a period in the Period list. The Preview Orders for Territory dialog
appears.
b. Click thebutton to close the Preview Orders dialog.
c. Click thebutton again to dismiss the preview.
13. Click thebutton to close the New Territory dialog.
Edit an Existing Territory
1. Select an existing territory from the list in the results area. The Territory Details dialog
appears displaying the Territory Rules tab.
2. Modify the general information, as required.
3. Modify the territory rules, as required.
To add a condition or condition group to the territory, select the item after which
you want to add the condition or condition group and click the
button or button respectively.
To modify a condition or condition group, double-click the item and update the
settings, as appropriate.
To rearrange conditions or condition groups, including moving a condition into a
condition group, drag and drop the items to the new location.
To remove a condition or condition group, the select the item and click the
button.
To include a dimension rule, click the button, select the
dimension rule, and click the button.
4. (Optional) Click the Description tab and update the Description field, as appropriate.
5. Click the People Assignments tab and modify the assignments, as required.
6. (Optional) Click the Custom Fields tab and modify the attributes, as required.
7. Click the button to preview order for the territory.
a. Select a period in the Period list. The Preview Orders for Territory dialog
appears.
b. Click the button to close the Preview Orders dialog.
c. Click the button again to dismiss the preview.
8. Click thebutton to close the Territory Details dialog.
Delete a Territory
1. Select an existing territory from the list in the results area. The Territory Details dialog
appears displaying the Territory Rules tab.
2. Click the button, and choose Delete from the drop-down menu.
A confirmation dialog appears.
3. Click to confirm the deletion; click the
button to cancel the action.
4. Click thebutton to close the Territory Details dialog.
Upload Territories
1. Click the Territory Management tab, then click Territories in the secondary menu.
The Territories screen appears.
2. Click thebutton and choose Upload Orders from the
drop-down menu. The Upload Territories from Excel window appears.
3. Click the Click here link to download the Excel template file.
4. Add the territories (and related information) to the Excel template file. Follow the
format suggested in the template, and save the file with a .xls extension.
5. Click the Browse button and navigate to the territories file.
6. Click the Upload button to upload the territories file. A message indicating a successful
file upload appears.
7. Click the OK button.
Download Territories
1. Click thebutton, and choose the format using the
Download Territories sub-menu.
You can choose from among the following options:
• Microsoft Excel (.xls)
• Comma Separated Values (.csv)
• Tab Separated Values (.txt)
2. (Optional) Type the name of the download file, and click the button.
If you do not specify a file name, the system automatically assigns a unique name.
The file appears in the myDownloads area.
