Plan Design > Rules Library
The Rules Library area is used to define five types of rules: Direct Credit, Indirect Credit,
Commission, Commission Clawback, and Bonus. The rules can be assigned to one or
more plans.
Creating Rules is the next step in Plan Design.
Rule Types
Direct Credit—Calculates a credit amount to the owner(s) of the order item.
Once a credit has been created for an order item, an indirect credit can be
created.
Indirect Credit—Calculates a credit amount to other positions in the company based
on direct credits and relationships. Indirect credits are not created if the direct credit
is:
• Held
• Not “rollable”
Commission—Calculates a commission based on a credit amount. Commissions are
not created if a credit is Held
Commission Clawback—Calculates a “clawback” of a portion or all commissions
given for a historic order based on the original rate. The current credit is processed
against the related orders rate.
Commission Rate Tier Match-enable administrators to define rules that use the
rate tiers from the primary commission rule when processing credits for order items.
Bonus—A bonus may be calculated based on an order item. Bonuses are not dependent
on a credit being created.
Illustrator Rules– manages rules that are applied to the Plan
Each of the rule types have the following three sections on the page:
• Step 1: Define rule name, active dates, and type.
• Step 2: (Optional) Define a condition for this rule.
• Step 3: Define result(s) created when the condition is true.
important: When one of the rule types is modified or deleted, it IS NOT necessary to
make changes to each section because the sections are independent of each other.
It is necessary to click the Save button every time a change is made to any section so
the changes can take affect.
Rules can be used in multiple plans. Rules are triggered and results calculated only if
the condition specified in Step 2 is true.
A Rule cannot be deleted if a Plan is attached to the rule.
note: Blank date fields default to 12/12/2035. This means that if you use blank date
fields in rules, for example, you may get unexpected results. Specify values for all date
fields you intend to use.
