Welcome to the Xactly Incent Concepts Guide.

This guide is written for compensation
administrators and is designed to help you better understand the underlying principles
of Incent and how to use the application most effectively.

Xactly Incent is a rule-based incentive compensation application that allows companies
to easily create and manage any type of compensation plan. Because of its on demand
delivery, Xactly Incent is accessible anywhere over the internet.
Using This Document

This document is divided into the following sections:

• Getting Started—Tells you how to access Incent and links to the rest of the chapters
in the book.
• Overview of Incent—Overview of the Xactly Incent process, including a brief
description of essential steps and, where applicable, their necessary order.
• Effective Dating—Describes how effective dating affects calculation and reports
in Incent.
• How Rules Drive Incentive Plans—Xactly Incent has a rules-driven architecture. This
section describes how the different Incent rules work, and provides a real-world
use case.
• Processing Incentives—Describes how credits, commissions, bonuses, and draws
are calculated.
• Using Multiple Currencies—Describes how currencies are created, where they are
applied, where multiple currency issues affect you most, and how multiple currencies
are used in calculations.

This document uses the following conventions.

Conventions 
BoldEmphasizes buttons or items in the user interface that users select. For example, "Click OK to save changes."
*Indicates a required field.
note:Emphasizes additional information about a topic.
important: Highlights information that is helpful in completing a task.
ItalicsUsed for the following:
• Simple emphasis, such as Do not turn off the computer
• User interface objects, such as screen and field names
• Table titles, row, and column headings

This document uses the following button graphics in text.

Buttons 
Use this button to select a date.
Use this button to view all the actions performed for an element such as "Created Date" and "Modified By" information. The most recent actions are listed first.
Use this button to clear fields so you can start on a fresh page.
Use this button to delete an existing element.
Use this button to create an element.
Use this button to confirm an action.
Use this button to reset an element to the currently saved state.
Use this button to save an element.
Use this button to filter specific information in each area, using keywords. To perform a search:
1. Click the Clear button to remove any information that may be in the searchable fields. 2. Enter search criteria in the searchable (bold) fields at the bottom of the form. note: In the Data Selection pane, all bold fields are search-able. 3. Click the Search button. The results appear in the Results Pane area.

Xactly Incent User Guide—Written for sales representatives, this document describes
the Xactly Incent user interface that sales team users see, which is set up by the Incent
administrator in your company. In this user interface, you can track your sales commissions,
bonuses and draws, compensation reports, incentive statements, incentive
details, and plan summaries, as well as using the Incentive Estimator to estimate compensation
before, during, and after a sale. Managers can track individual and team
performance through standard reports.

Xactly Incent Reference—Written for the Incent administrator, this document
describes the user interface of the Xactly Incent application, and explains how to
assign access privileges for using the application, how to set up company data, how
to create plans, rules, and orders, and how to generate reports and results.
Xactly Modeling Reference—This document is very similar to the Xactly Incent Reference
Guide, but includes information about the Modeling environment. In Modeling,
you can create hypothetical plans and organization structures and test them out
before committing them to the Incent environment.

Xactly Analytics User’s Guide—This document describes how to use Xactly Analytics,
an application that provides answers to business questions. Xactly Analytics allows you
to explore and interact with information, and present and visualize information using
charts, pivot tables, and reports. You can then save, organize, and share the results.

Xactly Connect Developer’s Guide—This document describes the Xactly Connect
Web Services Application Programing Interface (XCWSAPI), which allows developers
to extend the capabilities of Xactly Incent by creating applications that can integrate
business data from human resources, payroll and order management with Incent.
Xactly Connect supports Java and Microsoft .NET-based environments.
