Introduction to Analysis

The Analysis area in Xactly Modeling lets you create scenarios apart from your production environment, assign plans to them, and save aggregated results sets as scenario snapshots.

What You Can Do

You can compare snapshots, and analyze detailed reports and charts for forecasting expenses. You can create three types of Analysis reports: snapshot details, snapshot comparison, and attainment distribution reports.

When a scenario produces the results you want, you have the option of promoting the tested data settings into your production environment without re-keying all the data.

Typical Implementation Process Flow

You can do micro- and macro-level plan modeling, which lets you analyze snapshots, reports, and charts so you can:

  • Forecast incentive expenses
  • Compare snapshots you’ve created
  • Create reports and charts to see attainment distribution

The sub-menus under the Analysis tab allow you to do the following:

  • Initialize—You can re-initialize your Modeling environment to start all over again quickly. Initialize resets the environment and removes all existing data.
  • Scenarios—Once you have the data in place that you want to work with, you can create scenarios that you can assign to a plan. When you have saved a scenario, you can select it to calculate credits and incentives results.
  • Assignments—Check the plans and snapshots assigned to a scenario.
  • Snapshots—When result calculations based on a scenario are complete, you can select aggregation settings and create a snapshot of the results. Aggregation settings allow you to tailor the data.
  • Analyze—You can create three types of snapshot reports: snapshot details, snapshot comparison, and attainment distribution reports, and create charts to visually illustrate the results.
  • Snapshot Status—You can view status and details about active snapshots.

The relationship between data, scenarios, and snapshots is shown in the following illustration. Your typical approach when using the Analysis and related tabs is as follows:
